KOET November 2023 newsletter

Kairos Outside is a Christian-based ministry designed for women who have been affected by the imprisonment of a loved one. The ministry is designed to provide a sacred and safe environment for these women, who often feel hopeless, isolated and alone. They feel like they have no one whom can understand what they are going through and that they are “doing time” right along with their incarcerated loved ones. If this sounds like you, we welcome you to join us as a guest on a wonderful opportunity to meet others whom have been or are still traveling along the same path as you are.

The Kairos Outside Weekend is composed of a variety of activities, including a series of talks and meditations from ladies  just like you sharing their life’s journeys. Throughout the weekend, there will be music, prayer, fun activities, lots of food and pampering. The weekend is Christian in nature, however there is no need for religious affiliation to attend.

The Weekend Retreats and Reunions

Kairos Outside of Eastern Tennessee (KOET) has weekend retreats two times a year, one in the spring and one in the fall. These weekends are held at a retreat center in the Great Smoky Mountains near Maryville, Tennessee, or at a retreat center closer to Chattanooga.

Our Reunions are held 3 – 4 times periodically, throughout the year. Normally a reunion will occur within 2 – 3 weeks following a weekend retreat. Reunions are for former guests, volunteers and their families to meet and fellowship and have FUN. The events include but are not limited to bonfires, hotdog roasts, picnics, games, hayrides, sock hops, and are filled with lots of fun and food. Please be sure to jot down the dates so that you save a place on your calendar to join us for the fun!

Kairos Outside is  completely a  volunteer organization. We always have plenty of opportunities to participate and help each other out. Participation can include becoming a Team member, a Day Angel, or simply signing up for prayer for our guests and team members during our weekend retreats.

Team members are required to attend 36 hours of Team Formation Training each time they  work on a team. This is normally done over a period of 4 – 6 Saturday’s. All team members must be approved by the KOET council. If you would like to volunteer to be a team member, please fill out the Volunteer Questionnaire Application form.

Day Angels
